Tournament Format & Group Draw Announcement
6 Jun 2025
The IQA World Cup unveils its tournament format.
The IQA is proud to unveil the gameplay format for the largest and most competitive Quadball World Cup in history. With 31 national teams from every corner of the globe, this tournament promises fast-paced action, fierce rivalries, and unforgettable moments.
This year’s World Cup will feature a three-phase structure:
Phase One: Pool Play
Teams are split into seven pools—three pools of five, and four pools of four. Pools A–C will play a round-robin within their group, while pools D–G will face teams from a partnered pool (D vs E, F vs G). Every team plays four matches, and is then ranked 1st–31st based on performance.
Phase Two: Knockout Round
The top-ranked team from Phase One gets a bye to the Round of 16. The remaining teams face off—2nd vs 31st, 3rd vs 30th, and so on. Winners join the top seed in the Round of 16, and the journey toward the championship begins. Losing teams head into the consolation bracket.
Phase Three: Final Brackets
The Championship Bracket continues with the quarterfinals, semifinals, a third-place playoff, and the Grand Final to crown the 2025 World Champion.
Meanwhile, all other teams compete in consolation games to determine final standings from 9th to 32nd—because every match matters.
